Hermitage is a bookshop dealing with specific areas of publishing in literature and poetry of the 20th Century. Each book is hand picked to be part of a larger collection. The idea behind such a collection is to show the intentions and vision of the ones putting the work into print. Here the publisher and author are presented as a whole, and in doing so, the goal is to highlight these books as part of a lineage. The stock primarily covers the 1920s-1970s in American, and European writing in translation. Yet there are always titles which fall outside of this grouping, including avant-garde & underground texts and monographs. There are always interesting items one would not expect or know about. Hermitage is the kind of place you just have to come in and look around. All are welcome. Hermitage is proudly carrying on the tradition of the bookseller as publisher, with a few titles already completed, and a worthy list of titles forthcoming. The name of this venture under the Hermitage roof is The Brother In Elysium.

A partial listing of books avaiable is viewable on Abe Books under the name The Brother in Eylsium.

I am always looking to buy libraries or small collections in this area of focus. Please inquire.
